Stuck - By Day Wave

“Stuck” by Day Wave is about recognizing a growing intimacy, but also recognizing the vulnerability that comes with it. Jackson Phillips, the sole member of Day Wave, sings “I don’t want to let you in/When I sink into the ground for nothing”, as his almost rueful lyrics express an ambivalence at wanting to stay apart and alone because it’s easier, but not being able to get someone out of your head.
Despite the torn lyrics, “Stuck” sounds like sunlight flickering on your car’s dashboard as you drive beneath a wooded canopy. It sounds like the transition it describes: melting snow, growing love. By layering on guitar progressions, distant vocals and drum beats, Phillips achieves the sunny, dreamy overtones of “Stuck” that let the song linger long after its over.
Oh yeah, and there's also a video of Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 reacting to a fake "Stuck" music video for the "Stuck" official music video here.
