TITLE: Intersection

ARTIST: Matt Ellin

GENRE: Indie Rock / Folk

SIMILAR TO: Pavement, Wilco, Silver Jews

RELEASE DATE: August 16, 2017

“Freak-folk from the heart” is how one long-forgotten Facebook event pinned Matt Ellin’s music, though it always stuck with me for its tongue-in-cheek accuracy. His bizarre but resonant lyrics and eclectic instrumentation have garnered much attention from the local scene in Baltimore, as well as widely-loved acts including Foster Carrots and Nana Grizol (closely affiliated with Elephant Six), both of whom he’s opened for in his hometown. “Intersection” trades the lo-fi, bedroom pop production of his previous releases for a crisper, fuller sound with a broader range of textures and dynamics. With more audible vocals, the listener can pick apart the half-awake, bleary-eyed words more easily, leading up to an extravagant guitar solo that fits in perfectly with the peculiarity of it all.

“Intersection” is a single from All Is Not Lost, which will be available on Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Spotify, and iTunes on September 1st.
