Danny Brown’s Atrocity Exhibition is exactly as its name suggests, filled to the brim with experimental, gut-wrenching production and lyricism. "Ain't it Funny", a track that embodies the dysphoric tone of the album, is as abrasive and harsh as the album gets. The song is dominated by roaring, monotone trumpets accompanied by a quick beat and Danny's angry, shrill voice yelping furiously over the loud production. His bars are ferocious and almost inaudible, rapping about his behaviors of burying his addiction and mental illness under substance abuse. His cries for help which are transmitted through his music is drowned out by constant, harsh noise. The song is best enjoyed paired with its powerful, surrealist video directed by Jonah Hill.
