Sleep in the Heat - By PUP
TITLE: Sleep in the Heat
ARTIST: PUP
GENRE: Punk rock
MOOD: Aggressive / Raw
SIMILAR TO: Sorority Noise, Beach Slang
“Sleep In The Heat”, a track off PUP’s sophomore album, The Dream is Over, channels the Toronto-based band’s punk-rock fury into a tragic tale of frontman Stefan Babcock’s dead lizard. The vocals, similar to other PUP tracks, alternate between Babcock’s lonely yells and the energized punk chants of the rest of the band. “Sleep In The Heat” is PUP’s sound at it’s finest: intense, adrenalized punk-rock that manages to retain it’s dejected, emotional rawness, despite a smooth and refined production. Certainly worth a listen for anyone skeptical about the future of the genre.
