Hamilton Road - By Ducktails
TITLE: Hamilton Road
ARTIST: Ducktails
GENRE: Bedroom Pop / Hypnagogic Pop
MOOD: Calm / Sunny
SIMILAR TO: Beach Fossils, Real Estate, Mac Demarco
Ducktails, the solo project of Real Estate member Matthew Mondanile, epitomizes the trend of the sunny, laid back bedroom pop that’s become an integral part of the indie scene in the last decade. Ducktails is even akin to artists like Mac Demarco in a certain sense, especially in its chill mood rather than its sonic or instrumental technique. It revels in simple melodies and low-fi production that effectively embodies the frontman’s easy-going style.
“Hamilton Road”, a track off of Ducktails’ 2011 project, Ducktails III: Arcade Dynamics, exemplifies their fluid, easy-listening style. “Hamilton Road” is guitar-heavy, but has traditional rockish melodies that are the perfect soundtrack to anything, from studying to relaxing. The song feels synonymous with the beach and symbollic of relaxation and fun. It, along with the rest of Ducktails’ discography, revels in simplicity, and does what it sets out to do exceptionally well.
